This is a long-term project. It probably grew out of a longing for multiple lives — because I would like to have many lives.
It connects my passion for process-based acting work with my love of writing. The first has become my profession; the second, fortunately, remains a passion.
At the beginning, I create a character for myself (or someone creates one for me), as if I were creating a role for an actor. Then I prepare: I gather information and develop a biography. Finally, I step into the character — and instead of stepping onto a stage, I travel for five to ten days to experience the world from a new perspective.
Although the experience itself is the most important part of the project, an essential element is the diary kept by each character.
I have traveled as Mr. Tadeusz, a 60-year-old man with a heart condition, to Sicily; I worked as Łukasz from a sawmill in Silesia; I volunteered at a film festival in Kraków; and I took part in dance workshops for blind people in London.
So far, more than 20 character diaries have been created.
